Oud is one of the most recognisable notes in fine fragrance — deep, warm and woody. SCENT of You uses it in two of its four sachets, so you can have oud in a car, a wardrobe or a room without lighting anything or spraying anything.

What oud actually smells like

Oud is warm and woody with a resinous depth. On its own it can be heavy, which is why it is usually paired. Softened with vanilla it becomes comforting; set against rose it becomes elegant rather than sweet. It is a note people tend to either love immediately or find too strong — there is rarely a middle.

Our two oud sachets

• Oud & Vanilla — $39. Warm vanilla, soft woods and rich oud. The warmer, rounder of the two, and the easier one if you are new to oud.
• Velvet Rose & Oud — $39. Soft velvet rose with warm oud. Floral first, with the oud underneath rather than in front.

Oud without a candle, spray or diffuser

Oud is usually sold as perfume, incense or an oil diffuser. A sachet is fabric filled with fragrance beads — no liquid, no flame, no spray and nothing to plug in. That matters with a strong note like oud, because the release is gradual rather than a burst, and you can move it or remove it in a second.

How long does it last?

Approximately 3–6 months, depending on temperature, airflow and placement. In an enclosed space such as a wardrobe or a parked car it holds longer than in an open, well-ventilated room.
